Myeongwoldae
Located in the valley of Myeongwol-ri, Hallim-eup, Myeongwoldae is a historic site designated as a provincial monument of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. The site features a lush forest of about 60 ancient hackberry trees intertwined with dramatic rock formations. Historically, it was a renowned retreat where poets and artists of the late Joseon Dynasty gathered to enjoy the arts and scholars indulged in leisure. The site is characterized by its unique structure, consisting of three-tiered octagonal stone walls built upon natural rock cliffs, complemented by a circular stone platform known as Banwoldaeseok.
