Biyangdo Natural Forest Habitat
Located around the central northern crater of Biyangdo, just off the coast of Hyeopjaere, the Biyangdo Natural Forest Habitat is a unique sanctuary where a dense colony of Biyangnamu trees flourishes across a 10,000-square-meter area. The Biyangnamu, a deciduous shrub belonging to the family Polygonaceae, is characterized by its slender, dark purple-tinted twigs and fine hairs on young branches. As the only place in Korea where these trees are found naturally, this precious habitat is designated as Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Monument No. 48.
