Geumdeok Soapberry and Hackberry Tree Colony
Located on Jeoldongsan in Yusuam-ri, Aewol-eup, Jeju-si, the Geumdeok Soapberry and Hackberry Tree Colony features a majestic cluster of 16 ancient hackberry trees, with a single soapberry tree standing gracefully among them. The soapberry tree reaches a height of 12 meters with a circumference of 1 to 2 meters and is characterized by its pinnate leaves, while the impressive hackberry trees stand 16 meters tall with a circumference of 6 meters. Designated as Jeju-do Monument No. 6 in 1974, the Geumdeok Soapberry and Hackberry Tree Colony holds immense value as a natural heritage site, especially with the presence of the soapberry tree, whose name carries the beautiful meaning of "no trouble coming to one's children."
