Fossil Shells of Seogwipo Formation

Located on the southwestern coastal cliffs of Seogwipo, the Fossil Shells of Seogwipo Formation is a designated Natural Monument (No. 195). This site features a wealth of animal fossils, primarily shell fossils, which were deposited alongside sedimentary rock layers between 1.8 million and 500,000 years ago. Visitors can observe the ancient fossilized organisms revealed through the natural erosion of the rugged basalt-covered cliff terrain.
