North China Coastal Great Wall
The North China Coastal Great Wall is a historic site preserving the remnants of the Hwanhae Jangseong, originally constructed in the 11th year of King Wonjong's reign during the Goryeo Dynasty to prevent the Sambyeolcho from entering Jeju. Throughout the Joseon Dynasty, the structure was expanded and repaired to defend against Japanese invasions. Situated along the coastline, the North China Coastal Great Wall served not only military purposes but also functioned as a seawall to protect crops from salt damage caused by sea breezes.
