Hyeonui Joint Cemetery

Meaning "a cemetery where righteous souls are laid to rest together," Hyeonui Joint Cemetery is located along the roadside, approximately 400 meters east of Uigwi Elementary School in Uigwi-ri, Namwon-eup, Namjeju-gun. Once an affluent village during the Japanese colonial period, this mid-mountain settlement suffered devastating losses during the Jeju 4·3 Incident. Today, Hyeonui Joint Cemetery serves as a solemn resting place for the victims of that tragic history.
