Daejeong-myeon 4.3 Incident Memorial Monument

The Daejeong-myeon 4.3 Incident Memorial Monument was erected to appease the souls of the 48 residents of Moseulpo and other victims who were tragically shot by soldiers on December 13, 1948, in the fields in front of the Gyodong Hyangsa in Sangmo-ri. This site serves as a solemn place to remember the painful history of Daejeong-myeon, which once served as a stronghold for the suppression units in the western region, including tragic events such as the death of Yang Eun-ha, a student from Daejeong Middle School, due to torture in March 1948.
