Jariwat

Located in Bongseong-ri, Aewol-eup, Jeju, Jariwat was once the central village of the Ado 2-gu district. It stands as a poignant historical site, devastated in November 1948 by suppression orders and scorched-earth operations during the wartime period. In Wangdolgeori, the former heart of the village, a large Hackberry tree still remains as a silent witness to the past. Today, Jariwat serves as a significant site for Jeju dark tourism, functioning as a place for peace memorialization and historical education.
