Artists speak through their work. Therefore, understanding the work is knowing the artist, and when you know the artist, you can approach their work more closely. Jeju has a few works of Jun Itami, and I, for one, have written a few times about them. How much did I know about him back then? This trip made me realize the weight of the word “to know”.
