Formed approximately 5,000 years ago by a hydrovolcanic eruption beneath the sea, Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak) is a tuff cone rising 180 meters above sea level. Its unique structure features fine volcanic ash that accumulated into a magnificent cone shape around the crater. Designated as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site and Natural Monument No. 420, Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak) is renowned for its fortress-like landscape and breathtaking sunrise views. Visitors can choose between two paths: the left route (free of charge) and the right trail, offering different perspectives of this spectacular landmark.
