The area holds a deep historical significance dating back to 1212 during the 7th year of King Hejong's reign in the Goryeo Dynasty, when Gwideok-ri was renamed Gwideok-hyeon. Historically, the village was renowned for its high-quality freshwater sources; residents carefully managed their water usage, distinguishing between supplies for drinking and laundry.
